Premature ejaculation (PE) is classified as lifelong or acquired. The International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) defines lifelong PE as ‘ejaculation which always or nearly always occurs prior to or within one minute of vaginal penetration and the inability to delay ejaculation on all or nearly all vaginal penetrations and negative consequences such as distress, bother, frustration, or avoidance of sexual intimacy’.
